To simply point the finger at the federal government and whine about broken policy may be therapeutic for some, but is irresponsible, and largely unproductive. Some elected officials turn the other way when confronted with a tough issue, but Greg Ball has been willing to roll up his sleeves and get the job done. Greg Ball is a  pro-immigrant state legislator who will continue to lobby for efforts that will expand and streamline opportunities for legal immigration, but continue to fight the failed federal policy that coddles criminal illegal aliens and entices 4 million illegal alien day laborers to cross our border every year while millions of legal immigrants wait in line.

Greg Ball's work on this important state and local issue has been so prolific that he was named State Chairman of Lawmakers for Legal Immigration, a national immigration reform group comprised of lawmakers from both parties who seek to put an end to the exploitation of the illegal alien economy and penalization of those who come to this great country legally.

During his first term in the assembly, Greg Ball accomplished a great deal on this issue; fighting back local attempts to construct a workstation for illegal aliens using taxpayer dollars, stopping efforts of a local municipality to issue illegal aliens identification cards in coordination with the Guatemalan Consulate, fighting to recall 23,000 drivers licenses issued to temporary residents with no "temporary resident" stamp, and spearheading efforts against Governor Spitzer's insane plan to aid and support 1 million illegal aliens as well as the terrorists in their midst.

Greg Ball has always maintained that as a country, America has been a success because of of our large immigrant population, not in spite of it. As a people, we are a blend of the world and throughout our history a healthy immigration policy, largely open, yet tightly regulated, has ensured a constant flow of new faces, bright minds, talented souls and strong backs into the mainstream of our population.

Greg Ball believes that forming a secure border and fair immigration policy are the two most important steps we can take as a country. Greg Ball and state leaders are forced to deal with the realities of our flawed federal immigration policy. 287G, a program that has been embraced and adopted by several states and dozens of municipalities, would allow law enforcement and correction agencies in New York to function as immigration officers to deport illegal aliens who are criminals, and provide them with sensitivity and racial profiling training.

Greg Ball has fought tooth and nail to help enact 287g partnerships statewide to help local law enforcement confirm the identity of rapists, murders and child predators, among others, and begin deportation proceedings. A 287G agreement will save New York taxpayers millions every year by deporting incarcerated criminals who are here illegally and force the federal government to take a more proactive, rather than reactive, role in New York by working directly with New York 's local and state law enforcement via a formalized agreement.
