Greg Ball is a young man but he has great respect for his elders and is fighting for seniors in Albany! Assemblyman Ball is a champion of the cause of seniors throughout the state of New York and has supported legislation to help make New York safer and more affordable for our seniors.

In 2007, funds were budgeted for homecare workforce recruitment to help fight the crippling nursing shortage we face here in New York. When the the 2008 budget was passed, the funds were still not distributed. Assemblyman Ball strongly supports reappropriating these funds before the nursing shortage crisis begins to take its toll seniors and retiring baby boomers.

In 2008, Greg Ball stood up and voted against the bloated state budget, which gutted the enhanced STAR program by changing the way the formula is calculated. Seniors who received the same STAR rebate for years will now be receiving a smaller rebate check; which is in effect a tax increase on those living on a fixed income. In his next term, Assemblyman Ball plans to fight every day to correct this injustice and have the formula restored to put the money in the pockets back of our seniors.

To protect our seniors, Greg Ball voted against budget cuts to Medicaid and reimbursements for certified home-health agencies, long-term care programs and personal-care program providers. He also strongly criticized the omission of baseline funding for upstate home care infrastructure.

Greg Ball has spearheaded a bill to increase penalties for violent crimes committed against seniors and has worked hand in hand with local law enforcement to go after the perpetrators of local scams targeting seniors.

Assemblyman Ball is fighting to give the state authority to bargain for lower drug prices, provide for the safe and legal importation of prescription drugs and provide greater market access for generic drugs.

Both our seniors and health care providers look to Assemblyman Ball to continue to provide powerful leadership and unconventional solutions to the serious problems we face in the days ahead.
