Assemblyman Greg Ball is working tirelessly to develop a comprehensive approach to help usher in a regional approach to growth. Our region has been overdeveloped and is suffering from an insufficient tax base created by poor and haphazard planning.

As our Assemblyman, Greg Ball is working with the business community to attract smarter, cleaner and more environmentally sound development by embracing mixed use and dynamic development of particular parcels in the 99th Assembly District. It will take years to undo what has already been done; we need to slowly begin charting a smarter course towards the future, and Assemblyman Ball is at the forefront of pushing for such change.

Greg Ball made sheparding an Empire Zone to Putnam County a top priority when he was first elected, and he was successful in this effort.  The Empire Zone program is helping to attract the type of mixed use, commercial development that our community is in dire need of.

Integrating land use and transportation planning to reduce automobile travel and fuel consumption is a cornerstone of smarter growth that minimizes greenhouse gas emissions, and enhances our quality of life. Greg Ball supported the Governor's initiative to create a smart growth cabinet and establish the Lower Hudson Valley Smart Growth Grant initiative to help communities plan for development and economic growth spurred by major state infrastructure investment projects, including Stewart Airport, the Tappan Zee Bridge, and the Route 17 conversion into I-86.

Greg Ball cosponsored the bill signed by the Governor that eliminated the tax on alternative fuels. Although it was later challenged in court, Greg Ball hopes to reintroduce it soon in the upcoming legislative session. Assemblyman Ball is a strong supporter of alternative energy vehicles with a sustainable lifestyle theme, and would like to see the law banning waste vegetable oil as a source of biodiesel fuel repealed.
Smarter growth is only achievable through smarter planning, and future mixed used developments, open space preservation and urban renewal projects will require the kind of community involvement Greg Ball solicits each and every day as your Assemblyman.
